Lanzhou—the city where I was born and raised—has always lingered in my mind as both distant and deeply familiar. I left the city nearly eleven years ago, and each return brings a rush of contradictions: the streets feel changed, almost unrecognizable, yet they continue to stir vivid fragments of my childhood. This work is an attempt to film that tension—between memory and change, presence and distance.
